As a result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act ("PPACA" or "Obamacare"),employers with more than 50 employees will be required to provide minimum essential health care coverage effective January 1, 2014 or pay certain penalties. PPACA also imposes an excise tax on high cost plans starting in 2018. The Supreme Court decision issued on June 28, 2012 removed the remaining obstacles blocking implementation of the law.
